Up 6 A.M. Fixed Ford car, put spark plugs in etc. To country play [place?]. Hoed and cultivated the garden, mowed yard etc. To Uncle Henry's. Brought him home. Beautiful hot day. Out for ride around town. Thankful.

Still don't know who Uncle Henry is, alas. He may have lived in Glenville, since the Clossons picked him up and brought him to their house. Who knows, though?
Here is a diagram of the ignition system of a Ford Model T such as the Clossons may have owned and Stanford may have worked on that Tuesday morning.
Henry Closson is most likely John Henry Closson. He is the uncle of Stillman T. Closson. They celebrated John Henry's 70th birthday on May 24, 1919. John Henry was the youngest of ten children and the only survivor of his immediate family. Stillman was the son of John Henry's oldest brother Charles.
ReplyDeleteAnn & Jason Closson
Hi Ann,
ReplyDeleteWell, Uncle Henry may be Uncle John, but Stanford refers to John as Uncle John in various diary entries. Would he also call him Uncle Henry? Possibly. John's party was on May 22d, the Thursday before May 24th, when the report was published in the newspaper. See the May 22 post--I've added the description of the party. Very interesting! Thanks, Ann, for sharing it.
